Privacy Policy – Chat AI

This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) explains how masaki matsushita, based in Tokyo, Japan (“we”, “us” or “our”), handles information in connection with the application “Chat AI” (the “App”).
By using the App, you agree to the handling of your information in accordance with this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information in connection with your use of the App:

• Text and other content that you input into the App (e.g., chat messages)

• AI-generated responses provided through the App

• Device information (such as OS type and version, App version, language/region settings, etc.)

• Subscription-related information (such as which subscription plan you have purchased), limited to information that does not directly identify you as an individual

• Technical information that may be automatically transmitted in the course of communication (such as IP address and device identifiers), to the extent necessary for network communication, security, and abuse prevention

3. How We Collect Information

When you use the App’s chat functionality, the text you input (and any context needed to generate an appropriate response) is sent from the App to one or more third-party AI service providers to generate AI responses.

Third-party AI providers we may use include:

• OpenAI (ChatGPT API)

• xAI (Grok API)

We do not store your conversation content on servers managed by us. Conversation history may be stored only locally on your device.

4. Purposes of Use

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• To provide, operate, and improve the App

• To analyze usage and fix bugs, errors, and other technical issues

• To prevent and investigate misuse, abuse, or other inappropriate use of the App

• To respond to inquiries from users

• To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from administrative or judicial authorities

5. Transmission to and Use by External Services (OpenAI and xAI)

5.1 OpenAI (ChatGPT API)

The App sends the text you input and other information necessary to generate responses to OpenAI’s API service.
OpenAI’s servers may be located outside your country (for example, in the United States), and your information may therefore be transferred to and processed in other countries.

According to OpenAI’s published policies, data sent via the OpenAI API is not used to train or improve OpenAI models by default (unless an account owner explicitly opts in), and OpenAI may retain certain data for a limited period for purposes such as abuse monitoring and security.

5.2 xAI (Grok API)

If you use features that rely on Grok, the App sends the text you input and other information necessary to generate responses to xAI’s API service (Grok API).
xAI’s servers may be located outside your country, and your information may therefore be transferred to and processed in other countries.

xAI may retain and process certain data (including prompts/responses and related logs) as necessary to provide services, maintain security, and prevent abuse, subject to xAI’s terms and policies. xAI also provides mechanisms for deletion/retention controls under its published policies and agreements.

5.3 No Sale of Personal Information / Limited Third-Party Sharing

Apart from the third-party AI processing described above (OpenAI and/or xAI), we will not provide your personal information to other third parties without your consent, except where required by law.

6. Retention Period

We retain collected information only for as long as is necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Policy and will delete or anonymize such information when it is no longer needed, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Conversation history used in the App is not stored on our servers. It may be stored on your device, and you may delete it using the functions of the App or your device settings, where available.

Please note that OpenAI and xAI may retain and process data transmitted to them according to their own retention policies and legal obligations.

7. Security Measures

We will take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we handle from unauthorized access, leakage, loss, alteration, or destruction.

8. User Rights

If you wish to request disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, or suspension of use of personal information that we hold about you, please contact us at masaki030515@gmail.com.
We will verify your identity and respond appropriately in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

9. Age Restriction

The App is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older. If we learn that we have collected information from a user who is under 18 years old, we may take steps to delete such information as appropriate.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may modify this Policy from time to time as necessary.
If we make significant changes, we will notify you by displaying the revised Policy within the App or by other appropriate means.

The revised Policy will become effective when it is displayed within the App. If you continue to use the App after the revised Policy becomes effective, you will be deemed to have agreed to the revised Policy.
